Director Raine McCormack's folk-horror comes to VOD in October.
The most common theme in the folk-horror sub-genre is that of an outsider being lured to an isolated community for nefarious purposes. You can find it in the likes of City of the Dead, The Witches, The Wicker Man and of course this year's Midsommar.
Once again this premise provides the basis for director Raine McCormack's The Village in the Woods.
Speaking of his film, McCormack said "This is my dark, love letter to '70s cinema and I’m really excited to finally share this unique, atmospheric folk-horror." The film stars Richard Hope, Therese Bradley and Rebecca Johnson.
The Village in the Woods is on VOD October 14th, including iTunes, Sky Store, Amazon and Google Play.
Check out the trailer below.
The official synopsis reads:
The Village In The Woods tells the story of Coopers Cross, a remote, murky village, whose inhabitant’s survival relies on luring unsuspecting guests. A rising tension climaxes in a dark, twisted ending.
The villagers will be so excited to meet you…
"The brief running time and b-movie trappings make it a suitable candidate for the bottom half of your next Friday night horror double bill."— ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ง๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ฃ.๐๐ ๐ ๐ฌ (@themoviewaffler) September 6, 2019
