New trailer for Italy's Academy Awards submission.

Director Mario Martone's Nostalgia has been selected as Italy's submission for this year's Academy Awards. Based on the novel by Ermanno Rea, the film stars Pierfrancesco Favino as a middle-aged Italian man who returns to his hometown of Naples after living in Egypt for four decades. Back on home turf, his criminal past catches up with him.

Francesco Di Leva, Tommaso Ragno, Aurora Quattrocchi and Sofia Essaidi also star.

"Nostalgia takes place in a neighborhood of Naples, but the humanity of the characters and their stories are universal," says Martone. "Everyone remembers the smells and the flavours of our adolescence, everyone regrets to have lost them, we all know that sense of guilt towards our parents getting older and older, and everyone remembers those friends, for whom we felt a certain kind of love, that faded away with the time passing. And we all know our hometowns, the cities we come from and in which, together with the beauty of their nature, culture and of the wealthier areas, can coexist social issues, rage, abuse of power."

Nostalgia is in US cinemas from January 20th and UK cinemas from February 17th.
