Classic Yakuza Thriller VIOLENT STREETS to Make its Worldwide Blu-Ray Debut - New Trailer and Artwork
The 1974 crime thriller makes its blu-ray debut in February.

While best known for directing chambara (sword fighting) films like Sword of the Beast and Three Outlaw Samurai, Hideo Gosha also turned his hand to the Yakuza sub-genre several times. One of his most popular Yakuza movies is 1974's Violent Streets, which stars Noboru Andô as a retired mobster who finds himself pulled into a deadly gang war.

Newly restored in 2K, Violent Streets makes its worldwide blu-ray debut on February 20th, 2023 when it will be released by Eureka Entertainment.

Bonus features include an introduction to Violent Streets and the works of Gosha by film critic Tony Rayns; Jasper Sharp on Violent Streets; and a collector’s booklet featuring a new essay by Japanese cinema expert Tom Mes.

Check out Eureka's new trailer and artwork below.

The official synopsis reads:

A former yakuza member, Egawa (Noboru Andô) is now a brooding world-weary nightclub owner. Some of his former associates are released from prison and want to regain a foothold in the criminal underworld by igniting a gang war between the local yakuza, and an out-of-town clan led by veteran actor Tetsurō Tanba (Harakiri).
