The political drama comes to UK/ROI cinemas in June.

Based on true events, director Jan P Matuszyński's Leave No Traces was selected as Poland's submission for this year's Academy Awards. The film tells the story of Jurek Popiel (Tomasz Ziętek), the only witness to a 1983 killing by security police that saw the government initiate a major cover-up amid international pressure.

Leave No Traces is in UK/ROI cinemas from June 10th.

The official synopsis reads:

After the brutal killing of Grzegorz Przemyk, a Polish student and the son of the opposition poet Barbara Sadowska (Sandra Korzeniak), by security police in 1983, the State’s supposedly ‘independent’ legal system finds itself under intense political pressure.

Based on true events, the film follows the story of Jurek Popiel (Tomasz Ziętek) - the only witness of the beating, who overnight became the number one enemy of the state.

While the killing itself appears to be a case of unmotivated sadism, the case is soon deemed political when reported on the BBC World Service. This leads to a concerted effort by the authorities to distort legal procedure and falsify the evidence through blackmail and physical intimidation.
