The blockbuster porn returns to the big screen this summer.

Racking up $45 million at the US box office, director Gerard Damiano's hardcore porn Deep Throat was one of the highest grossing movies of 1972 and is still considered the most profitable film of all time. The movie became an instant sensation, embraced by mainstream audiences and decried by conservatives.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Deep Throat is set to return to cinemas around the world later this summer, kicking off in New York on June 10th with a screening accompanied by a Q+A with Damiano's son Gerard Jr and daughter Christar. The film has been newly restored in 4k.

"We have succeeded in preserving our father's best known film in a complete 4K restoration so that it can be shared not only with his old fans, but with new generations," says Gerard Jr. "We are excited to present Deep Throat as a theatrical experience, the way it was originally shown, and add in-person talk backs to discuss its impact then, and its relevance today."
