Following duds The Monuments Men and Suburbicon, George Clooney needs to get his directorial career back on track. Perhaps the movie to correct his course is sci-fi drama The Midnight Sky, adapted from Lily Brooks Dalton's novel 'Good Morning, Midnight'.
The film takes place on a near future Earth that has been ravaged by a mysterious apocalyptic event. Clooney plays a scientist who attempts to contact an astronaut (Felicity Jones) to prevent her from bringing her crew back to our doomed planet. David Oyelowo, Kyle Chandler, Demián Bichir and Tiffany Boone also star.
The Midnight Sky is on Netflix from December 23rd.

The official synopsis reads:
This post-apocalyptic tale follows Augustine (George Clooney), a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to stop Sully (Felicity Jones) and her fellow astronauts from returning home to Earth, where a mysterious global catastrophe has taken place.
