November sees a host of new movies being released on DVD. Whether you like action or comedy, animation or horror, there is something for everyone. With Christmas just around the corner, there’s no better time to pick up some DVDs online.

This month sees the release of one of the year’s biggest superhero movies. 'The Amazing Spiderman' is a reboot of the Sam Raimi 'SpiderMan' film franchise. The film revisits Peter Parker’s origin story and details his transformation from geeky student to soaring superhero. The movie has two main focuses: the emotional questions over the disappearance of Parker’s parents and his relationship with his girlfriend and is an action-packed superhero blockbuster.

'The Five Year Engagement' is a romantic comedy, starring Emily Blunt and Jason Segel, which explores the idea of commitment phobia in women. The film takes a light-hearted look at romance in the modern age and follows the couple’s journey as their wedding plans are disrupted by an onslaught of births, deaths, marriages and career dilemmas. Overall this is a charming movie with plenty of hilarious moments.

Pixar’s latest animation is a fairytale set in the Scottish Highlands. 'Brave' is the story of Merida, a feisty princess with a love of archery who refuses to submit to her parents’ wish for her to marry one of the sons of Scotland’s other clans. She engages the help of a witch to thwart her parents’ plans but discovers that her wish did not have quite the result she expected. Although the story leaves much to be desired and lacks the emotional depth of other Pixar classics, the animation and visuals are vivid and detailed.

Another big release this month is the hugely popular 'Arthur Christmas'. This animated family comedy has a great script and is an uplifting seasonal film. The movie depicts the military-style operation required to ensure that Christmas presents are delivered on time to all children in one night. However, when one present goes astray, Arthur makes it his mission to find and deliver it. This is a heart-warming tale for all the family.
